Semaglutide (the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy) Once Weekly Weight Loss Injection Now Available!

Elevation Medical is implementing a new program in our weight loss facilities. We will be offering semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy.  Wegovy is the brand name drug that is FDA-approved for once-weekly subcutaneous (under the skin) weight loss injection.  Semaglutide is also known as Wegovy or Ozempic by its brand name.

Semaglutide has been around for many years to help diabetic patients control their blood sugar levels. This injection was also found to reduce weight.  Since diabetic patients started losing weight on semaglutide, it was studied to be used as a weight-loss injectable medication. Since June 2021, semaglutide under the brand name Wegovy was FDA approved for long-term weight loss.

Semaglutide is 94% similar to natural human glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), which decreases blood sugar levels in a glucose-dependent manner by enhancing the secretion of insulin. GLP-1 acts as a physiological regulator of appetite and thereby reducing food intake by reducing feelings of hunger and increasing feelings of fullness/satiety.

Patients can choose to receive semaglutide for only 1 week as a trial for $90. Please be advised that semaglutide is dose-dependent upon the duration of use; meaning the longer you use it, the higher your dose will be and up to 2.4mg/week.

Semaglutide Peptide Diet Shots Service Fees

  • 0.25 mg (7 days) $90

1 week of semaglutide 0.25 mg  FDA-approved peptide diet shot

  • 1 mg or 1.7 mg (30 days) $365

1 month of semaglutide 1 mg or 1.7 mg  FDA-approved peptide diet shot

  • 0.25 or 0.5 mg (30 days) $265

1 month of semaglutide 0.25 or 0.5 mg  FDA-approved peptide diet shot

  • 2.4 mg (30 days) $450

1 month of semaglutide 2.4 mg  FDA-approved peptide diet shot

Patients who have a history or diagnosis of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN II) are not eligible to receive semaglutide.

Semaglutide can be used in conjunction with HCG, phentermine, and or sermorelin for the best results.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at hello@elevationweightloss.com or contact us by phone (412) 458-5042

Patty D. ‘s Story…

I started going to Elevation Medical Weight Loss a few years ago.  I immediately felt very comfortable and at ease with Dr. Cooper.  She worked with me through losses and gains (especially during the holidays) and she remained supportive the whole time.  When I look back at pictures I can see the difference in both inches and on the scale.  If I ever started to feel frustrated because of a plateau she would help me to start losing again.  I would recommend her and her staff to anyone.  They are professional, well-organized and friendly.  I highly recommend them and know they will help me to reach my ultimate weight loss goals.

Feeling Hungry? Here’s How to Make Sure Your Appetite STAYS Suppressed

We often receive questions or comments regarding the effectiveness of using phentermine for weight loss.  Phentermine, also known as Adipex, works very well to control hunger; however, the results are still based on you and your motivation to eat healthier and your ability to stick to the plan.

After taking phentermine for several months, you may notice that the appetite suppressant effect does not seem as strong as it was for the first few weeks.  This diminishing effect is due to your body becoming acclimated to the medication.  So the question is: How do you make the appetite suppressant keep working for longer?

Here are some suggestions– based on your doctor’s approval:

  • Ask your doctor if you should take the whole tablet of phentermine in one dose rather than half a tablet twice a day.
  • Take the medication later during the day, 2 hrs before you are likely to be hungry, however not too late during the day which may inhibit sleep.
  • Consider doing weight lifting exercises instead of cardio. Cardio tends to stimulate appetite while weight lifting help suppresses appetite for many people.DSC_0843
  • Add on the B-12 and fat burner injections if you have not already done so. The B-12 and other components can make it easier for you to maintain your diet
  • Keep snacks away and do not have things around the house (or office!) that you really enjoy eating.
  • Drink more water. A gallon a day is best. When you find yourself hungry, drink a glass of water and wait 30 minutes to see if you are actually thirsty instead of hungry.
  • Consider consolidating your meals into a 6 hr window during the day, like during 2p-8p. This known as intermittent fasting and when used properly can be very effective for helping certain people regulate or “reset” their appetite.
  • Consider trying the other manufacturer/brand of phentermine.  Different companies use different dyes or binding agents as part of the inactive ingredients that may work better for certain individuals.  The pills look slightly different from each other, but the active ingredient is still entirely phentermine 37.5 mg.
  • Get more sleep. A lack of good sleep increases the release of a stress hormone, known as cortisol, that will cause you to eat more. Also, it’s hard to eat when you are asleep so it’s a win-win.
    remsleeps
  • Take at least a 1-week break from phentermine (and other stimulants, such as caffeine, if you can handle it).  This allows your body to reset so the medication is new to you again.

These are just a few strategies to help you get the most out of the medication and better take control of your eating habits. Hopefully, something here will help you on your way to a healthier you.

7 Diet Tips on Breaking the Weight Loss Plateau

Whether you have been losing weight for a few months or a few years, if your weight loss has recently stalled there are some things you can try to get things moving again.  Here are a few tips on how to break the plateau and start achieving results again:

  1. Increase protein intake.  Try to aim for 75 gram of protein for women and 150 gram of protein for men.  Lean protein shakes are OK to supplement your intake.

  2. If you haven’t already started tracking calories, start using an app like MyPlate Calorie Tracker for iPhone or Android.
  3. Get more sleep.  Most people need at least 7 hours of sleep a night, and more so if you exercise. Lack of sleep throws off hormones like cortisol which make it harder to shed stubborn fat.
    cat-sleeps.jpeg
  4. Start a weight training program.  By increasing the calories you burn all day a weight lifting program may very well help you start losing again.  If you are inexperienced, you can start by doing body-weight exercises and working your way up.

  5. Drink more water.  We recommend a gallon of water (128 oz) daily for most patients.  This is important both if you take our appetite suppressant medication.  You are allowed to have unsweetened tea or sugar-free water flavor packets, such as Crystal Lite, or another low-calorie flavored option.

  6. Consider adding on the B-12 and Fat Burner (Lipotropic) injections and check-in weekly for some feedback.  If you are low in Vitamin B or certain amino acids, it can cause you to stall on your progress.  Also, by visiting for weekly weigh-ins, we can provide some suggestions on how you can continue to lose.
  7. Lastly, try to have a nice meal.  Some people find that by going high calories for a day, especially after 6-8 weeks of intense calorie deficit, they will start losing again.  A reason for your plateau may very well be that your body just needs a “refeed”.

Hopefully, these 7 tips can offer some help.  Let us know what works for you!

Sometimes, Not Sharing is Caring

notsharingiscaring.jpeg

Dear Patients of Elevation Medical Weight Loss,

We need to take some time to address something rather serious. Concerns have been brought to us about some our patients possibly “sharing” their weight loss medications with friends and family. While we are confident that all of our weight loss medications and programs are safe, this is not necessarily true for all people and as such we are concerned for the health of anyone involved.

Before we go on, we want to note that all new patients sign a “Statement of Informed Consent” that states among other things that our prescribers have the discretion to withhold prescribing to anyone suspected of sharing or giving away prescribed medication. We do, however, want to be clear that our top priority is your safety and the safety of those dear to you. Our prescribers have in the past and will undoubtedly turn away seemingly healthy, adult patients due to risk factors that could easily lead to terrible side effects, but have also found alternative ways to successfully work with more high-risk patients. The point is that a prescriber should always be involved when a prescription medication is taken to ensure that the medication is taken both effectively and safely.

notsharingiscaring2.jpeg

If you or someone you know has or is currently sharing your medications with another person, we urge you to please stop doing so and instead bring them to us and let one of our trained medical professionals make sure that everything is done safely. If cost is an issue we have run many special incentives in the past such as our “buddy program” that can help in this regard, and if it is anything feel free to contact us to address them and possibly discuss safer alternatives.

Again, this letter is not intended as a threat or scolding, but rather as a plea. All of us at Elevation Medical Weight Loss make great efforts to protect your privacy and your health, and we ask that you work with us to ensure that we have only a positive impact on our community.

TL;DR No one should share any prescribed medications since there could be serious risks if someone takes a medication that is not meant for them.

Sincerely,

Coach Drew and Dr. Cooper

DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING RESPONSE TO OUR “BRING A BUDDY” PROGRAM…WE HAVE DECIDED TO EXTEND IT THROUGH JUNE!

We are thrilled that so many of you have decided to take advantage of our “Buddy” program! Our first two winners in our Weirton office were brand new patients~

Just to refresh your memory, below are the rules for the “Bring a Buddy” program!

ONE DAY OR DAY ONE…YOU DECIDE …AND BRING A BUDDY!

diet buddies

January has come and gone and many of us are stuck with ye another yet of New Years Resolutions.  The number one New Year’s resolution is…you guessed it…get in shape and/or lose weight. 69% of us make that resolution every year and those who don’t usually start thinking about summer and joining in around now. How many times have you made that promise to yourself?

We try to be here for our patients, but for most of your success, it is entirely up to you. We also know that it can sometimes be hard to lose weight and that a support system can make a world of difference. This is why we are extending the “Bring a Buddy” plan for you with some exciting incentives.

Here is what you need to do:

-You can be a former of a new patient, it does not matter.
-If you are a former patient, you have to be ready for a refill on your meds.
-Bring a buddy with you, you both must get a prescription for meds,  or sermorelin
Both people must physically be present at the time of the appointment.

Here is what you get:

-Each person will get $10.00 off of their medications
-Each person will get a complimentary B-12 injection
-Both of your names will get entered into a drawing at the end of the month to win a free weight scale (like ours in the office) and a credit toward a month of medications and shots.*

*There will be 1 winner at each office each month.  Drawings will take place on the last day each month from January 2018, through June 2018.  The winners’ first names only will be posted on the website and Facebook page.  All offices will be included in this incentive program. No cash or cash equivalent will be substituted for the end of month awards. If you do not want the shots, no cash equivalent will be given.  i.e. You don’t use it, you lose it.

One day or day one?  WE will decide…This is your DAY ONE!  Make it count…with your buddy!

Congrats to our February winners: Paige at our Weirton office and Wenda at our Green Tree office!
