I am a single mother of 2 grown sons that I devoted my entire life too. They came first, along with all of their activities and such, and I put myself last. Over time I just got used to being heavy and thought that is how my life was going to be. I tried every diet possible and had success at times, but it never lasted. I also battled a few health problems and I contributed that to some of my weight gain. But I had to finally admit to myself, I like food, and lots of it, and I had to get control.
A few of my friends were on Elevation Weight Loss program and they were having amazing results. So I reached out to them and they told me how wonderful the program was and how amazing doctors and staff were. I made the decision, after Christmas I would go and find out about the program for myself. So on January 9, 2018, I drug one of my best friends with me, and we went and took the plunge and signed up for the program. It was honestly the best decision of my life.
I have lost 50.4 pounds so far and would like to lose about 20 more. I have amazing energy and feel absolutely wonderful. I kicked the habit of drinking Diet Coke (which is a large feat for me) and learned to drink lots of water now, and eat the right way. The best thing of every week when I weigh in is the text messages I send to my sons telling them what I lost that week and their replies saying how proud they are of me. It’s all worth it! The combination of the program, exercise and phenomenal support group, I know I can reach my goal. Thank you Elevation Weight Loss for giving me my life back!
Whether you have been losing weight for a few months or a few years, if your weight loss has recently stalled there are some things you can try to get things moving again. Here are a few tips on how to break the plateau and start achieving results again:
Increase protein intake. Try to aim for 75 gram of protein for women and 150 gram of protein for men. Lean protein shakes are OK to supplement your intake.
If you haven’t already started tracking calories, start using an app like MyPlate Calorie Tracker for iPhone or Android.
Get more sleep. Most people need at least 7 hours of sleep a night, and more so if you exercise. Lack of sleep throws off hormones like cortisol which make it harder to shed stubborn fat.
Start a weight training program. By increasing the calories you burn all day a weight lifting program may very well help you start losing again. If you are inexperienced, you can start by doing body-weight exercises and working your way up.
Drink more water. We recommend a gallon of water (128 oz) daily for most patients. This is important both if you take our appetite suppressant medication. You are allowed to have unsweetened tea or sugar-free water flavor packets, such as Crystal Lite, or another low-calorie flavored option.
Consider adding on the B-12 and Fat Burner (Lipotropic) injections and check-in weekly for some feedback. If you are low in Vitamin B or certain amino acids, it can cause you to stall on your progress. Also, by visiting for weekly weigh-ins, we can provide some suggestions on how you can continue to lose.
Lastly, try to have a nice meal. Some people find that by going high calories for a day, especially after 6-8 weeks of intense calorie deficit, they will start losing again. A reason for your plateau may very well be that your body just needs a “refeed”.
Hopefully, these 7 tips can offer some help. Let us know what works for you!
Until now we have offered through our website the opportunity to book appointments for our various B-12 injections. We have done this in an effort to better accommodate those with less flexible schedules, however we have found it to cause more confusion than good so we have decided to remove the option from our appointment scheduler.
Don’t worry, this change will not limit the times during which you can come in for B-12 injections but rather you may still come in at any time during which we have regular hours. If our open sign is on, you can come on in for shots.
So to further clarify, no appointments need to be (no can be) made for B-12 injections, appointments are available only for new fills or refills on prescription medications, and only required during non-walk in Physician hours.
It’s been awhile since we had a recipe posting, but we’ve been saving this savory low-carb, recipe for Spring. We use a vegetable spiralizer (found in local home goods store or on Amazon). A vegetable spiralizer is definitely a safer alternative for your fingers to a mandolin slicer. If you don’t have the tools, you can chop the zucchini into thin slices with a knife and still serve a great meal.
Zucchini Noodles with Meat Sauce (247 calories per serving, 23 g of carbs) *prep time 10 min, cook time 20 minutes* Serves 10
93% lean beef, 2 lb
Zucchini, 12 large, washed
Tomato sauce, canned, 28 oz
Tomato paste, canned, 6 oz
Onion, 1 medium, minced
Parmesan cheese, grated, 1 tsp (optional)
10 calories per serving
Water, 3/4 cup
Garlic, minced, 2 tsp
Oregano, 2 tsp
Sugar, 2 tsp
Salt, 1 tsp
Basil, 2 tsp (fresh or dried)
Black pepper, ½ tsp
1. Combine ground beef, onion, garlic, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, black pepper, and 1/4 cup of water in a large saucepan on medium heat.
2. Stir to crumble and brown the meat.
3. Stir crushed tomato, tomato paste, and 1/2 cup of water into the pan until a rolling boil. Simmer on low and stir occasionally for another 5-10 minutes.
4. While the meat sauce is simmering, use a vegetable spiralizer to turn the zucchini into noodles.
5. One zucchini (33 calories, 6 g carbs) will yield about 2 cups of zucchini noodles. A serving is 3 cups of zucchini noodles. Spiralize the zucchini into desired thinness. You may want to request for help from an experienced taste tester.
4. In a large microwave-safe bowl or plate, microwave the zucchini for 2-3 minutes on high for every 3 cups you plan to serve.
5. Combine zuchinni noodles with 8 oz of meat sauce. Add on a tsp of grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve and enjoy!
Each serving is under 300 calories, which works with the plan.
It may be 2017 already, but at Elevation Weight Loss it feels like the new year doesn’t really begin until February. Especially with all the extra time we needed to lose those “holiday” pounds.
Here are some of the benefits of losing weight:
Reduced risk of injuries.
Decreased difficulty getting up and down.
Waking up with more energy for the day.
Feeling more satisfied with smaller portions of food.
Shopping for new clothes is more enjoyable.
Reduced joint and back pain.
Less dependence on many daily medications (but ask your family Dr. first).
As part of opening up our second location in Weirton, we would like to take this opportunity to provide accessible weight loss services to more individuals. If you are even slightly motivated, we can help you get to your best health for 2017.
We have a referral program where you can send a friend or family to us for both parties to receive credit toward your services. If you have questions, ask about our referral program here.
Lastly, we have certain hours that Dr. Cooper will be in for new patient evaluations for weight loss and medication refills. If you make an appt, it will limit your wait time and we can get you in faster; also some additional hours may be available by appt only. Usually our clients are accustomed to making appointments in any healthcare setting, so you can make appointments with us; however, walking in during these hours is absolutely OK.
