Two years ago after I gave birth to my daughter, I was the heaviest I had ever been, weighing in at 240 lbs.
Between pregnancy, not much exercise, and eating unhealthy, I couldn’t stand the way I was feeling. I was so happy with a healthy newborn, yet so miserable mentally and physically. I knew I had to make a change. Finally, in April of 2017 I had begun my journey. Dedication, hard work, discipline, and Elevation Weight Loss’s program.
So far I have lost a total of 70 pounds in 12 months. I made goals each month for myself. I pulled out smaller clothes and hung them on my closet as a constant reminder thinking “I want to wear this again one day, and I will make it happen.”
I feel great. My joints don’t hurt, I can now run a few miles without stopping, where I could not run for more than 2 minutes at my heaviest. And no longer am I depressed. Exercising is the best form of stress relief for me. I made sure to keep track of my calories every day. Small balanced meals along with healthier snack options. Visiting Elevation Weight Loss Center, weighing in, and having such an encouraging friendly team on my side was a huge help for me. Packing lunches, and not stopping for food on the go. Logging my meals and what I ate every day also helped immensely.
Losing weight is a process. Unfortunately, we all know it does not happen overnight. There were times I was so frustrated thinking “Wow I have only lost 10 lbs, I have 70 more to go”. No matter what, I kept pushing forward. Whether it was a brisk walk around the mall with the stroller or a light jog around the block, I took small baby steps to a better, healthier me. There’s beauty in every stage of this journey; celebrate small milestones, have a cheat meal or a piece of chocolate cake once in a while, we are all human. If I can do it, you can too.
